style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">El traumatismo craneal o lesi\u00f3n cerebral traum\u00e1tica (traumatic brain injury en ingl\u00e9s, o TBI) es la primera causa de muerte en adultos menores de 25 a\u00f1os, mientras que la mayor\u00eda de los supervivientes sufren da\u00f1os cerebrales permanentes. Por lo tanto, es necesario mejorar el manejo de los pacientes, con un tratamiento personalizado y en tiempo real. La \u00f3ptica difusa permite un seguimiento no invasivo del bienestar cerebral y del efecto de la terapia. El objetivo de esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n es demostrar y validar c\u00f3mo la \u00f3ptica difusa puede ofrecer informaci\u00f3n cr\u00edtica, de manera no invasiva, sobre el cerebro de los pacientes de cuidados neurointensives de forma a orientar su tratamiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">La anemia es una complicaci\u00f3n frecuente en la atenci\u00f3n neurocr\u00edtica. Aproximadamente el 95% de los pacientes ingresados \u200b\u200ben la unidad de cuidados intensivos son an\u00e9micos, presentando valores de hemoglobina por debajo del rango normal durante los primeros tres d\u00edas. La anemia compromete la capacidad de la sangre para transportar O<sup>2<\/sup> y se asocia con un aumento de la morbilidad y la mortalidad entre pacientes cr\u00edticos y TBI. Para hacer frente a esta complicaci\u00f3n, aproximadamente el 45% de estos pacientes reciben almenos cinco unidades de transfusi\u00f3n de gl\u00f3bulos rojos (red blood cells en ingl\u00e9s, o RBC). Sin embargo, estudios recientes han informado sobre los efectos adversos en la transfusi\u00f3n de RBCs en pacientes con TBI. Investigadores y cl\u00ednicos especulan que esto es debido a una lesi\u00f3n de almacenamiento: con el paso del tiempo, el cambio en las propiedades de los gl\u00f3bulos rojos almacenados puede conducir a una disminuci\u00f3n de su capacidad de transportar ox\u00edgeno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">Este estudio aumentar\u00e1 significativamente la comprensi\u00f3n del efecto de lesiones de almacenamiento y transfusiones en pacientes con TBI an\u00e9micos. Se pueden determinar umbrales no invasivos para transfusiones de sangre en pacientes con TBI, haciendo innecesarios los m\u00e9todos invasivos y, por tanto, disminuyendo el riesgo y mejorando el tratamiento de los pacientes con TBI y la atenci\u00f3n cr\u00edtica en su conjunto. La tecnolog\u00eda fot\u00f3nica podr\u00eda sustituir en \u00faltima instancia algunos monitores invasivos, actualmente necesarios en algunos de los pacientes de cuidados
