style=\"color:#199ddb\">Resumen del proyecto<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:26px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">El ictus (o infarto cerebral) es la segunda causa de discapacidad en Europa, tras la cardiopat\u00eda isqu\u00e9mica, y es la sexta causa mundial. Se espera que la prevalencia de eventos de ictus aumente en todo el mundo a medida que aumenta la poblaci\u00f3n mundial de m\u00e1s de 65 a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">En el ictus isqu\u00e9mico agudo (la mayor\u00eda de los ictus) la reperfusi\u00f3n precoz de la arteria obstruida, es decir, la restauraci\u00f3n del flujo sangu\u00edneo cerebral (cerebral blood flow en ingl\u00e9s, o CBF) es un buen indicador de la recuperaci\u00f3n del paciente y de un estado funcional favorable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">La tecnolog\u00eda \u00f3ptica difusa ofrece una nueva oportunidad para la evaluaci\u00f3n no invasiva, en tiempo real y a pie de cama de biomarcadores claves en la funci\u00f3n cerebral, incluido el CBF, con el objetivo de proporcionar una predicci\u00f3n temprana de la respuesta a la terapia, traduci\u00e9ndose as\u00ed en mejores decisiones y resultados cl\u00ednicos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">Los investigadores del grupo de \u00d3ptica M\u00e9dica del ICFO, dirigido por el profesor ICREA Dr. Turgut Durduran, desarrollan tecnolog\u00edas que utilizan la luz de infrarroja y la \u00f3ptica difusa para proporcionar informaci\u00f3n privilegiada a los m\u00e9dicos, de manera segura y a pie de cama del paciente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">Los investigadores del ICFO colaboran con la Unidad de Ictus del Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau para llevar a cabo las pruebas cl\u00ednicas de estos dispositivos. Tambi\u00e9n trabajan con el Grupo de Investigaci\u00f3n Cerebrovascular del IDIBAPS para entender los fundamentos del ictus isqu\u00e9mico en modelos animales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#000000\">Estos dispositivos fot\u00f3nicos controlan de forma no invasiva los vasos  sangu\u00edneos m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os del cerebro del paciente, proporcionando informaci\u00f3n continua sobre el flujo sangu\u00edneo, el volumen sangu\u00edneo, la oxigenaci\u00f3n sangu\u00ednea y el consumo de ox\u00edgeno. Se utilizan para complementar herramientas establecidas como son la resonancia magn\u00e9tica y la tomograf\u00eda computarizada, y tienen por objetivo optimizar los tratamientos y mejorar los resultados y la calidad de vida de los pacientes de ictus. La ambici\u00f3n final es desarrollar dispositivos que puedan ser ampliamente utilizados en todas las unidades de ictus, as\u00ed como la creaci\u00f3n de dispositivos port\u00e1tiles para ser
